NASOTRACHEAL INTUBATION USING FORCEPS

This video shows the nasotracheal intubation technique utilizing forceps. Forceps can aid in tube placement. The forceps should remain in closed position when entering the oral cavity. Make sure to grab the endotracheal tube proximal or distal to the cuff to avoid cuff perforation.

This technique is indicated for the anticipated difficult airway.

CATHETER-GUIDED NASAL INTUBATION

Although the red-rubber catheter is not approved by FDA for nasal intubation, studies have shown decreased trauma and epistaxis with its use.
